Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 14th, 1970) is an American writer and actor. The twice Golden Globe Award winning star gained notoriety with her roles in CBS's One Day at a Time in the role of Barbara as well as Hot in Cleveland when she played Melanie Moretti. As a teenager, she began acting and has grown into a professional character actor. She discovered a love for showbiz through her friendship with the daughter of a producer in her early years.
